Join UCL for a comprehensive three-day course on renal physiology and electrolyte and acid-base disorders, organized by the UCL Department of Renal Medicine.

You can choose to attend one, two, or all three days.

Course Content:

Day One:

  • Overview of the nephron
  • Proximal and distal tubular function
  • Hypertension and diuretics
  • Oliver Wrong Prize Lecture

Day Two:

  • Acid-base physiology
  • Renal tubular acidosis
  • Sodium disorders
  • Patient perspective session
  • Professor Ben Walsh Memorial Prize Lecture

Day Three:

  • Potassium, calcium, and magnesium disorders
  • IV fluid therapy
  • Introduction to renal stones

Teaching and Structure:

  • Attend one, two, or all three days.
  • Interactive sessions with opportunities to ask questions and discuss clinical cases.

Certificates and Accreditation:

  • Receive a certificate of attendance.
  • CPD credit anticipated to be 18 category 1 (external) CPD by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP).

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand acid-base and renal electrolyte physiology.
  • Evaluate and treat common clinical problems.
  • Gain expertise in fluid and diuretic therapies.
  • Reflect on ways to improve clinical practice.
