We are seeking expressions of interest for two pivotal leadership roles within our UKKA International Committee: Medical Co-Chair and Multi-Professional Team (MPT) Co-Chair. These positions are integral to advancing global kidney care and addressing health disparities worldwide.

About the UKKA International Committee

Established in 2004, the UKKA International Committee aims to enhance kidney services, infrastructure and expertise in medium and low-income countries. This mission is achieved through education, training, mentorship and research initiatives. The Committee collaborates with the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) to share knowledge and experience globally.

Key Initiatives of the Committee:

  • UK Sister Units: Fostering partnerships between UK kidney centres and those in developing countries

  • Case Study Sessions: Conducting interactive webinars at least four times a year, encouraging global trainee participation, opinion sharing and networking

  • Medical Trainee Initiative (MTI) Scheme: Attracting overseas trainees to the UK for up to two years, providing them with skills and knowledge to implement in their home countries

  • Research Collaborations: Engaging in joint research projects to improve kidney care globally

Roles and Responsibilities

The Co-Chairs will lead the Committee in its mission to empower UKKA members to contribute to sustainable growth in kidney services in medium and low-income countries. This includes focusing on reducing health inequalities through:​

  • Education and Training: Developing and delivering educational programs for healthcare professionals.​

  • Mentorship: Guiding and supporting trainees and professionals in the nephrology field.

  • Research: Facilitating research collaborations to advance kidney care practices.​
