King's Birthday Honour Medals

The UK Kidney Association invites nominations for the King’s Birthday Honours List, to recognise someone special for their contribution to kidney healthcare.

In collaboration with the Royal College of Physicians, we encourage our members to help us identify candidates who have made an exceptional contribution to their field – whether it’s within academia, research, managing services, education or clinical practice. Nominations are welcome for individuals who are members of both the UKKA and RCP.

What better way to celebrate the achievements of these extraordinary individuals than the 2025 honours as we mark 75 years of championing kidney professionals and advancing kidney care...

Help us celebrate exceptional work in 2025

"Transforming how kidney care and research are delivered in the UK and beyond".

2025 is a very special year for the UKKA and the kidney community as we commemorate the 75th anniversary of The Association. Established in 1950, initially as the Renal Association, we have been transforming kidney care ever since, significantly improving outcomes for people with kidney disease.

Now is your opportunity to nominate an individual who has made an impact so that they can be considered for the prestigious honours and have their work celebrated.

Eligibility and how to submit a nomination

We are particularly interested in receiving nominations for those whose contributions are in the following areas:

  • Improving access for patients, including reducing waiting times
  • Exemplary social care providers and work on integration of health and care
  • Using technology and innovation to deliver better services
  • Turn-around leaders

The RCP is also keen to receive candidates for the British Empire Medal, aimed at those at an early stage in their career "who are making a strong impact which is viewed as going above and beyond their job".

The nominee must be a UKKA and RCP member (or fellow) to be eligible.

Please submit a short statement to us via email by 13 January 2025. If confirmed, a nomination form must then be completed in accordance with the RCP guidance where further details can also be found.
