Expressions of interest sought for elected council member – Renal scientist

Nominations are requested from members of the Association for a new renal scientist member to serve the RA Council (the Council).

The Opportunity
The Council is a wise body of people which is deliberative and focused on service, education and research. It supports, advises and guides the trustee board (the board) in developing policy, strategy and implementation.

The Council allows the board to fulfil its legal, ethical, and statutory responsibilities. It is important that the two bodies work closely together to fulfil their responsibilities and there is an intentional overlap of membership to support this.

The Person
The board is seeking member nominations from the renal scientist community.

Nominees will be interested in:

  • Representing the membership in identifying strategic issues to be addressed
  • Commenting on draft strategy papers and subsequent implementation plans
  • Identifying and suggesting issues the membership faces that require addressing
  • Advising committee chairs on the appropriateness of work objectives and programmes and providing a voice for the membership and partners.

A willingness to contribute time and energy is essential. The Council meets three times a year and members will also be asked to attend and/or chair sub-committee meetings or task and finish groups.

Timetable
Deadline for nominations is: 5pm Wednesday 31 March 2021
Electronic voting will be carried out in early April.

How to Nominate
Nominees must complete the nomination form and also provide:

  • 2 page CV
  • Short personal statement of intent which will be made available to the electorate (maximum 500 words)

The nomination form, CV and personal statement should be emailed no later than 5pm Wednesday 31 March 2021 to the RA secretariat.

Equality & Diversity
The RA is committed to creating and sustaining a positive, fair and mutually supportive environment. We accept, respect and value people with diverse identities and backgrounds and believe our differences make us stronger and more effective in achieving our goals.
We ensure appointments are made on the recommendation of a transparent, balanced and appropriate panel, are made on the basis of merit, and encourage applications from all suitably qualified and eligible candidates.

Remuneration / Expenses
Please note that the role is un-remunerated. Reasonable expenses are paid in accordance with the RA expense policy (available upon appointment).

To arrange an informal discussion about the role, please contact Neil Sheerin or Tim Bowen.
