Transplant First: An improvement toolkit

Transplant First improvement hub

Increasing access to pre-emptive kidney transplants

This hub will help you get started with kidney transplantation quality improvement.

It has been put together using learning from participants of the Transplant First project*, a project aiming to increase the number of pre-emptive transplants (transplants before someone needs to start dialysis) in the UK.  We hope it will grow and develop as learning from other regions and kidney units across the UK is included.

Tips on using this hub

  • If you would like to try an intervention from the hub, get advice and tips from someone who has done it before (names and contact details are listed within each case study)

  • When starting out on your improvement journey, carry out local and regional research first. Focus on ideas for improvement that will most benefit your patients and service - solutions vary depending on context
