Staff education and home dialysis

DAYLife staff education

Why do we need staff education?

Professional attitudes have been shown to play a key role in determining the uptake of home therapies across kidney services.   Acknowledging and addressing the variation in attitudes across the workforce is an important element of the project.

The opportunity to collaborate with healthcare professionals and patients, and understand how resources are used differently in different units is valuable for many and motivates people to think differently.  Some units develop smaller informal ‘buddy’ networks with other teams whislt carrying out their project, visiting each other’s units to understand in more depth how home therapy services are delivered in different settings.

What does it feel like to be involved in quality improvement as a healthcare professional?

Our immediate colleagues from across all disciplines can bring the necessary impetus to consider change but collaboration with other teams in other hospitals gives it a greater sense of purpose and a public sense of commitment.
