Getting started with Transplant First
KQuIP uses improvement methodology to implement the Transplant First project and empower teams to design and test their own interventions. Participants receive leadership and quality improvement training as well as programme management support throughout the project.
The below tools have been developed by the project team to support people in getting started with Transplant First:
-
The Transplant First data collection tool which encourages units to perform a mini route cause analysis (RCA) on every patient who reaches dialysis without being listed for transplantation. If you would like to have access to this tool, contact us at kquip@renalregistry.nhs.uk
-
A How to Guide for people embarking on Transplant First or a similar project
We use opportunities such as UK Kidney Week to share learning and challenge thinking
We communicate learning and resources through this website
We endeavour to work in partnership with other national bodies, for example the Living Kidney Donor Transplant network and NHS Blood and Transplant.
To date, five KQuIP regional improvement networks have begun the implementation of the transplant first project with support from the KQuIP team:
- Thames Valley
- North West
- South West
- South East
- South London
