Nephrology Discussion 4 - Building a Multidisciplinary Transplant Service

Join us for a Nephrology Discussion symposium, in partnership with UKKA, exploring building a multidisciplinary transplant service. Dr Magaret O’Shea, Lead of Renal Transplant surgery, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Barbados, Dr Jennie Jewitt-Harris, Director of Medical Activities and Founder of Transplant Links, Mr Andrew Ready, retired Renal Transplant Surgeon and trustee of Transplant Links, and Dr David Milford, Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist at Birmingham Children's Hospital and Trustee of Transplant Links, will share and discuss insights from their work regarding the critical importance of team working and leadership in renal transplantation.

They will share their experiences and challenges in the planning and development of a new renal transplant centre. The speakers will discuss how to identify the services needed and the wider multidisciplinary team members to be involved, when establishing and supporting the transplant unit. This includes histocompatibility, pharmacy, histology, biochemistry, microbiology, radiology, HDU/ITU, surgical wards, operating theatres, and transplant coordinators. Click here to register.
