Spotlights: Shining a Light on 75 Years of Kidney Care & Innovation
For 75 years, the UK Kidney Association (UKKA) has supported kidney professionals across the UK, driving improvements in care, research and innovation. Our Spotlights highlight the impact of our Committees, Special Interest Groups, Working Groups, Quality Improvement initiatives, and UK Renal Registry data projects, showcasing the expertise and dedication that shape kidney care.
Each month, we focus on a key area, celebrating the people and projects driving progress. From shaping clinical guidelines to advancing research and improving patient care, these groups play a vital role in supporting kidney professionals across the UK and beyond.
Connecting Globally: The UKKA International Committee
Our first Spotlight features the UKKA International Committee, led by Professor Sunil Bhandari. Since its formation in 2004, the Committee has worked to share expertise, foster collaboration, and address global kidney health inequalities. Through education, mentorship and research partnerships, it supports sustainable growth in kidney services in low- and middle-income countries - ensuring that UK kidney professionals can contribute to a truly global effort in nephrology.
